Cryptocurrency meme lingo: What do they mean? Dragon Coin has its own lingo too!

Are you confused with cryptocurrency meme lingo? You’ve probably run into it on social media or perhaps during conversation in your local pub? You are not alone, especially if digital currency is new to you. It can certainly take some time, trying to comprehend cryptocurrency terminology such as ‘blockchain’ and ‘hodl’, meme lingo can leave you scratching your head, as you frantically Google what on earth everyone is talking about!

This article will hopefully help you to understand some of the more popular cryptocurrency meme lingo, and I’ve also added some new terms

all related to Dragon Coin (DRG) for good measure — the token ready to take Macau ViP junkets #ToJupiter! (see below for explanation!)

You can choose to keep meme lingo in its natural state on social media, or apply a hashtag for maximum effect!

HODL

Where it all began, or so I legend has it, was back in 2013 when a user was commenting on a forum, BitcoinTalk, and an innocent typo became an instant meme lingo sensation. What did he spell incorrectly? HOLD. You will often hear people say HODL (Hold On For Dear Life) or HODLing.

The act of HODLing coins (waiting for them to rise and make the holder a Bitcoin millionaire), is often considered a newb, or newbie, trait, however, many cryptocurrency investors HODL. Don’t sell — HODL dude!

FUD

Ah FUD — where would we be without a little FUD, which stands for Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt. Cheery little fella, isn’t he?! FUD can often be found lurking on forums, social media, on Telegram groups and exchange platform chats, doing its darned best to cripple a coin or token. Don’t buy into FUD — it’s best avoided like the plague.

FUDster

Which brings me nicely onto FUDster, which is someone spreading fear and dread into the hearts of crypto investors. Ignore them like the plague too!

WHALES

No, not the moby dick kind. Whales love crypto coins — they own a ridiculous amount of them. More than you ever will. Ever. They are considerably richer than you. You can find them on Twitter, and some of them will give coins to users for free, for example, to the first person to post their wallet address on Twitter.

PUMP AND DUMP

To pump is to inflate something, like a bicycle wheel — the bike works really well, and you can cycle like Bradley Wiggins. Then you get a flat — this is dump, and your bike comes to a grinding halt — you aren’t going anywhere. Apply this logic to cryptocurrency coins.

It comes about when a group of so-called crypto enthusiasts, decide to hype a coin — they make extreme claims about how great the coin is, and make sure that as many people know about it as possible. Cries of this coin is about to moon, etc is pumping. A newb will often be victim of a Pump and Dump, and buy the coin or token. The coin price rises due to the increased interest, at which point the ‘coin enthusiast” sells their coins and makes like a bandit. If you listen very carefully, you can probably hear them cackle like witches. Or is that creepy Alexa?

FOMO

I’m sure you’ve heard this one as it is used outside the world of cryptocurrency, but it fits perfectly well in this world too. Fear Of Missing Out on a coin that is heading To The Moon (which I’ll come to in a minute).

To The Moon

Two trains of thought on this one.

A firm favourite with newbs who have hopped on the pump and dump wagon and believe that the coin they’ve just bought (which they have such high hopes for), will go To The Moon! Whilst this is impossible feat for a lot of coins out there, these types of investors keep the faith that their coin will be mooning soon! To veteran investors it’s clear that the coin is heading in one direction — to the earth’s core.
To others, newbs and old-hands, believe that To the Moon means that it increase in so much that they’ll be able to buy tickets from Elon Musk to go the moon.
So, it really depends on your point of view on this one! To The Moon hangs out on social networks and forums.

Mooning

This is the act of a coin currently rising so fast it is Mooning! This is often when FOMO sets in.

LAMBO (short for Lamborghini)

After all your hard work studying a coins white paper, and carrying out your due diligence you might be in line for one of these. Often seen on Twitter … or, if like that young Bitcoin millionaire, Erik Finman, you got in at the right moment. Although I still feel bad for the two boys who bought two pizzas with 10,000 Bitcoin 7 years ago, today they’d be worth almost £85 million today! Hope the pizza was tasty, at least!

Now you have the general guide to some of the more common crypto coin meme lingo you should learn these too!

Dragon Coin: Crypto meme lingo

To Jupiter

Like its cousin To The Moon, but better. To Jupiter can only be described as a coin that really is going to Jupiter — like Dragon Coin DRG.

What is Dragon Coin? I highly recommend you read the Dragon’s white paper, and you can also find out more here.

One Month One Millionaire Airdrop (OMOM)

This is going to be something you will see making the rounds on all social media platforms and forums because who doesn’t want to win one millionaire Dragon Coins? Which will, yes, make you a millionaire! You can go to Macau. You can be a VIP. You can drive a Lambo (see above).

To be part of #OMOM you will need to purchase Dragon Coins DRG, and transfer them to your Dragon Wallet which is currently in beta, but will be launching very soon. Check it out on Google play and wait, patiently, for it to be released on iOS.

“Oh you won OMOM last month — that’s great. Hope I win someday!”

Daily Buy Pressure (DBP)

Daily Buy Pressure is when a VIP junket gamer purchases DRG in order to play games, such as Baccarat, at junkets. They will only be able to purchase them on cryptocurrency exchange platforms once Dragons’ crowd sale has ended (March 15th 2018). High rollers don’t just buy a couple of thousand coins; they are quite whale-like, in that they can buy hundreds of thousands, if not millions of coins. It just depends on their gaming needs for that weekend in Macau! DBP will be constant. Find out more about Dragon DPB here.

Dragon Pearl Hotel and Casino — DPHC

I’ve made my millions with DRG, I’ve got my lambo and now I’m heading to Macau, to the DPHC this weekend. Got me shindigs on and I’m ready to rock and roll, and play me some Bacacart in the Dragon junket. OK, they probably won’t sound like they just walked out of the movie “Leaving Las Vegas” or “The Hangover”, but the DPHC (Dragon Pearl Hotel Casino) is an exciting project with 16,000 feet of gaming space, hotel rooms the size of some New York apartments, and 3 floors below water level! It’s going to be lavish, folks!

NFDH — No fear Dragon (is) here

To counter any FUD attack (see above) use #NFDH. This little meme will send those FUDsters running back to their FUD box, when Dragon comes breathing fire down their necks. NFDH can be used whenever there is a need to rid a forum or social media attack on a coin or token. Send for Dragon (bit like Batman, but better!)
